Troubleshooting Issues for Ford External Partners


This page is designed to help you troubleshoot issues with your Ford Guest Account before contacting Ford's Help Desk.

Ford Guest Account Creation Issues

--- Active CDSID
When you have an active Ford CDSID and also have a non-Ford email account (e.g. userid@company.com) tied to that CDSID, the guest account cannot be created.
Solution: Log in with your CDSID or provide a different email address to your Ford contact and your Covisint Security admin so a guest account can be generated for that email address.

--- Group Email Address
Your email address is identified as a "Group Email Address" which means it is associated with a Microsoft Office 365 Group. These types of email addresses cannot be granted a "Guest Account."
Solution: Contact your IT team responsible for maintaining email accounts to obtain an individual email address that is not a group address and provide that to your Ford SharePoint site contact and your Covisint Security admin.

--- National Cloud
National clouds are physically isolated instances of Azure. These regions of Azure are designed to make sure that data residency, sovereignty, and compliance requirements are honored within geographical boundaries. These types of email addresses cannot be granted a "Guest Account."
Solution: Contact your IT team responsible for maintaining email accounts to obtain an email address that is not part of a National Cloud and provide that to your Ford SharePoint site contact and your Covisint Security admin.

Invitation Redemption Issues

--- Invitation Redemption Failed: non-Ford Federated Tenant
Error message: "We cannot create a self-service Azure AD account for you because the directory is federated. Tenant's admin must create an account for you."
What this means: The domain of your email address (the portion after the @) is associated with a Microsoft 365 tenant but your email address is not affiliated with that tenant.
Solution: Contact your IT department to have your email address synced to your Microsoft 365 tenant or acquire an email address that is not affiliated with the tenant.

--- Invitation Redemption Failed: URL is invalid or incomplete
Error message: "The invitation redemption URL is invalid or incomplete. Please try again with a valid URL."
What this means: This is not a common issue. This can occur when a company changes their Microsoft 365 tenant (e.g. migrate from trial license to subscription license).
Solution: Have your Ford contact request to have the Ford Guest Account removed and resubmitted.
